Autumn 2025 Walking Holiday at the Travelodge, Glossop

 

Our October 2025 hiking holiday took us to Glossop, on the edge of the beautiful Upper Peak District. Over four nights, a group of 27 walkers enjoyed a mix of great company, hearty meals, and some challenging but rewarding walks in classic Peak District scenery.

 

Accommodation & Meals

Breakfasts and evening meals were shared in a variety of local restaurants and eateries around Glossop town centre. The excellent food and warm hospitality added to the friendly, relaxed atmosphere throughout the week.

Walking Programme

• Day 1: A gentle introductory walk exploring the town of Glossop, giving everyone a chance to settle in.

• Days 2–4: Options each day for either a long walk (around 10 miles) or a shorter route (7–8 miles), taking in the surrounding hills and valleys.

• Day 5: A final short walk from Hathersage, rounding off the week with another taste of Peak District charm.

 

Highlights

Although the walks proved quite strenuous at times, and low cloud limited the scenic views, we were fortunate that it stayed dry throughout — a welcome bonus for late October! The varied routes, fresh air, and shared camaraderie made it another thoroughly enjoyable hiking break.
